Italy Social Media project

I recently spent nine days in the northern region of Italy creating behind-the-scenes "social media" for QVC. Basically, I produced, shot (in Italy I had a great assist that shot as well -Andrea), and edited 13 stories covering the production. Needless to say, it was a lot of work but I walked away extremely satisfied with the final product.

Technically, all stories were shot on the Sony EX 3 and 1r. All editing was done on Final Cut Pro. Here are 3 stories:

Click Free shoot

Here is a shoot that I had a couple days ago. Basically, the product will remotely/wirelessly backup your computer. The Director wanted one shot showing three computers being backed up. Setup and shoot all happened in one eight hour day... we were jammed and jamming.

My crew rocked. Brain Troy and intern Ted kicked it out. I could not have done it without them.

Joan in Wonderland

Camera operator today. Nice push and ped using Innovision's HD Probe lens. Paul Schneider lit this and I stepped in to operate because of scheduling issues.

Joan is always great to work with. Dan Porto did the set and costumes and Ellen Thorn directed... always amazing.

Spring Designer Gallery

A two day shoot on white sweep. The clothes were laid out to imply model's form or motion. Our stylist, Christine, really made this great.

Bedding shoot

I have a three day bedding shoot in one of QVC's rentavated studios. The sets are very nice but the "Living Room" set lighting was not complete. Looking at all my options, I chose to start from scratch.

7 days of...

Seven days of Fashion Week - makes one weak.

I am tired and slightly hung over. I can't wait to get home and see the family.

Right now, I am sitting and holding my spot for the Isaac show and pretty excited. It's the biggest show that I have shot and, as I said, the last. Isaac's set looks amazing.

Things that I have learned from Fashion Week:

- runway models do not blink.
- even in "the pit" people are pretty nice... for the most part.
- this is not my scene.
- I am in awe of these brilliant designers. I see Dennis Baso in a whole new light now.

2010 Fashion Week: Day 2

In professional wrestling they have a term "ring rust". It basically refers to the "rust" the that a wrestler needs to work through after a long hiatus to be ready to perform again.

That is me sitting in front of the Final Cut Pro. I know what I want it to do but I forget how to get there. Sean (pictured) is more than patient and I know that it will all come back to me. I just need to work through it.

2010 NYC Fashion Week: Day 1

Today, was mostly travel and checking things out type of day. Linked up with partners-in-crime: Sean Conte, Tim Neely, Scott Kinkade. Here I will help shoot and edit various content for YouTube. Not a bad gig and these guys are great at it and very good to me. Pictured below is one of my main tools for this week.

B. Makowsky shoes

Nice simple shoes shoot today. After I took these stills I ended up swapping out to a longer lens , backing the camera up, and opening the f-stop to a 1.8/2.8 split. So far, I am pretty happy with the results...

Jeff Lewis/Tracy Hutson interview

I had a chance to quickly work with Jeff Lewis from Bravo's Flipping Out. It was a simple interview and he was very cool and funny. Then it was Tracy Hutson from "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" and she was also cool and sweet.

Day 1 of a two day Dyson commercial. Set up went well so we decided to start shooting machine parts
with Innovision's HD Probe lens. This is an amazing lens that allows you to get inches away from an object, making things look huge.

Computer/TV demo

This a a large room that we built and lit for two shoots tomorrow. All lights are color balanced to 56k with the exception of the shelf unit that the television sits in. The little puck lights were looking very green, so we added 1/2 minus green and it warmed them up nicely.

Camera: Sony F-800
Lens: Canon 7.6-130 f1.8 (@ f 2.8/1.8)
Stylist: Dan Porto
Dolly Grip/Assist: Brian Adams
